I get emails asking about Farfelle.  Where his name came from, what is he really like, so I thought I’d do a little fun article about him.  Back in 1953 – 1965 Nestle’s had a wonderful commercial featuring Jimmy Nelson, a puppeteer.  He did 30 second skits starring Danny and Farfel.

When I was a kid in the early sixties, I adored that commercial!  I would come from anywhere in the house to sing along.  As I got older, I vowed I would someday have my own dog named Farfel.  It took until 2002 to find the perfect Farfel, but  that’s ok.

The name Farfel is actually a noodle.  By defination it is a yiddish, pellet noodle resembling barley.  These days I see bowties labled farfel. (???) Back to Farf’s story.

The breeder sent me pictures back when we were still talking.  The first is Mazzy, Farf’s mom.  To the right is Don Juan, his father.

Next is Farf at 6 weeks.  Too adorable, huh?  The last pic is Zoe and Zygi, his sister and brother.  I  posted all the  pics on my Fancy Pets website and about a year later I got an email from the owner of Zoe and Zygi  who recognized their baby  pictures.  Wild, eh?  They lived in Florida and she sent me some current snapshots.

None of them had perfect coats, although it looks like they had more time spent on them than I had to spend on Farf.  He has lost almost all the black in his beard.  So, I got the pick of the litter?  Fortunately it don’t matter, I have my BG!  What is he like?  All BGs are important, mischievious, sensitive, stubborn, funny, almost human and my best buddy.

We’re in week 6 of his hand stripping.  By fall shedout he should look alot like his siblings!  More pics as they become worth posting.
